CARE - Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere

CARE is a leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty. They place special focus on working alongside poor women because, equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escape poverty. CARE also deliver emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and help people rebuild their lives. In the fiscal year 2015, CARE worked in 95 countries around the world, supporting 890 poverty-fighting development and humanitarian aid projects to reach more than 65 million people.

Sven Harmeling works as climate policy coordinator for CARE International since september 2013 (CARE Office Bonn). In his position he developes climate policy positions for the international CARE-Network, assists country offices in advocacy on climate issues and represents CARE for example in the UN climate process. In this way he wants to contribute to CARE’s superior goal to find fair responses to climate change in politics and programmes, which improve the living conditions of the poorest and most vulnerable people and increase their resistance. He previously worked as a team leader for international climate policy at Germanwatch.
