Online seminar: Process Proposal for Defining the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG)

This online seminar took place on 12th of October 2022. The recording of the event and the slides of the presentation can be accessed below.

During this online seminar on 12 October 2022 1:30 pm GMT, the Climate Finance Advisory Service (CFAS) launched a new publication that proposes a clear roadmap for the process of defining the NCQG. The publication provides a process proposal that includes concrete next steps, milestones, and links to other processes inside and outside the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The publication outlines key elements up for discussion that would eventually become part of an NCQG and that need to be addressed through deep dives, in a sequential manner, at the technical level. It links the political-level discussions to the deliberations and decisions of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA), which are to constitute the milestones that the process requires. The publication makes concrete suggestions on what the technical-level discussion needs to address, what the role of the high-level dialogues is, and what decision-making and guidance are needed from the CMA in order to move the process forward.

The process proposal for defining the NCQG was presented by Bertha Argueta, senior policy advisor at Germanwatch. Climate finance experts from civil society will then reflected on this process proposal during the launch event.
